How to Merge a Google Local Page with a Google+ Brand Page
What was once a major local SEO headache has just been simplified; you can now merge a Google Local page with a Google+ brand page.
In order to do so, you’ll need to be the owner of both your Google Local page and your Google+ brand page. You’ll also need to make sure that your local page is verified. This process effectively involves moving your map data, as well as reviews and followers to the brand page.
- Navigate to your verified Google Local page and click Manage this page.
- Choose settings, and scroll down to the option to Link a different page to this location. You’ll be able to choose from the other pages you manage in a drop down menu. Make sure you select the correct Google+ brand page that you’d like to merge with. Google will then confirm that they’re connecting the pages.
Once the pages are connected you’ll receive a notification that the brand page is now connected to Google Maps. Your map data and reviews should appear on your brand page, and the page should now be verified.
At this point, your local page, (which is no longer connected to Google Maps), is referred to as a backup. You no longer need this page, so you can delete it if you’d like. If your Google+ brand page had a custom URL it should still remain in place, despite the merging of data from your other page. Google+ users can now view you on Google Maps, check out all of your reviews, and watch all of your videos from a connected YouTube account- all from one page.
