How to Link Twitter to Facebook Status Updates?
Earlier this year we wrote a blog on how to link Facebook to your Twitter account so when you update Facebook, you also update your Twitter. We got an email asking us the reverse question, how do I link Twitter statuses to Facebook?
First off, as we have said before, it’s better to maintain separate messaging on Facebook and Twitter. Facebook tends to be all about the status updates, media sharing like pictures and video, while Twitter is at it’s best when people are conversing with brands or thought leaders on different subjects.
However, as we get off our social media soap box, let’s look at hooking up Twitter to Facebook so you can tweet and it appears on your Facebook status.
How to connect your Twitter and Facebook
- Go to your Twitter page that you want to hook up to your personal Facebook profile or Facebook business page.
- Click on your profile name
- Go to “edit your profile”
- Click on post your Tweets to Facebook on your profile page
- You will be prompted to log into Facebook. Click yes and allow Twitter to post and manage your statuses
- If you have just a profile, you are good to go and can click save changes.
- If you want to connect it to your business page, choose my business page and the business page you want to update from Twitter
- Click on save
Hooray!
Your Twitter is now hooked up to your Facebook. When you Tweet, the status will have a little blue Twitter bird and it will also tell people via Twitter as a source. One word of caution is that Facebook’s algorithm Edge Rank may penalize Tweets because the content is not unique to Facebook, but it will still show up in the News Feed but not as a Top Story.
If you want to disconnect Twitter from Facebook, go back to your Twitter profile. Then click disconnect and your tweets will no longer show up in Facebook. Also if you have Facebook to Twitter enabled on Facebook, your Facebook status will go to Twitter and then bounce back and repost as a tweet of Facebook so disable either Facebook to Twitter or Twitter to Facebook to not have two statuses for every update.
