The Price of Low Cost

It’s natural for people to want to try and negotiate a lower cost. It’s one of the reasons, we publish our pricing to keep the negotiating to a minimum and move people to contract at a fast pace. However, when we aren’t able to close a deal, it usually comes down to price. People will point out that they can build sites on GoDaddy for free and host them for a very low monthly amount.
That’s absolutely correct, but there is a price to low cost that needs to be considered.
The Price to Low Cost
The first thing we tell people is that GoDaddy is cheap because they put lots of websites onto one server. This is fine if you don’t get much traffic, but if you begin to, your site will slow down. This can have negative connotations on your SEO. This happens as Google considers the speed of your site as a reason to bump you in search rankings.
Because GoDaddy has so many sites on each server, they are often targeted for attack like yesterday’s attack which took out millions of websites. Not having many redundant systems means if your site goes down, you can’t redirect to a mirror site.
Another price of low cost is while Drupal, Joomla and WordPress are all free to use, you need to spend a good deal of time learning how to use them. This of course takes time. Additionally, if you don’t have the skill set to code CSS, then making your website branded is also difficult. Therefore, you will need to use a template.
Lastly, like hiring an employee, you hire a digital marketing firm to create content that you don’t have time to create, such as press releases, photo galleries, Facebook and Twitter updates, blogs, etc. so you can worry about producing your products.
