What is Domain Authority?

So you’ve done the keyword research, optimized your metas, H1’s, page titles, alt tags, URL’s, body content and maybe even gave your website a small makeover. However you’re still not jumping as much as you’d like on Google.
Consider your Domain Authority, you need to try and understand this metric and why it’s important. Domain Authority is one of the most important metrics search engines, like Google, use to rank your website. In a nutshell this is used to see how trusted you are among the rest of your competition, or anyone else that pops up during a search of your major keywords.

Three Main Factors
Three main factors that determine said Domain Authority are age, size, and popularity of a given website. Too break this down you can see why these three things matter. Search engines assume the longer you’ve been around the more likely you are to contain the correct information searched for, The bigger you are, the more relevant information you can carry. Finally, the most sensitive, how many inbound links and the Domain Authority each of those inbound links have, fortunately this is the metric you have control of, with a good link building strategy and strong inbound links you’ll be rolling in Domain Authority.
When linking back to your site pay attention to the details, quality of quantity is the rule of thumb. You don’t want to send something with low Domain authority. Search engines will interpret this as a waste of time and effort on your part, not really but you get where I’m going with this. A lot of low authoritative links will still do worse than a handful of strong links. Again, pay attention to the details, the links, the DA (domain authority) , this is a very sensitive metric and as anything super important if your going to do it do it right.
So in the end what will you gain? Simple, the more authority the higher ranked you are. The higher ranked, the more traffic you will receive. The more traffic, you receive the more popular you will become. The more popular you become, the more authority; and so on, and so fourth. Now go fourth and conquer your link building campaigns and ultimately your domain authority.
