Analyzing Neil Patel’s QuickSprout Web Analyzer
There’s no shortage of SEO “gurus” on the web these days. One of the more prominent SEO experts is Neil Patel. Under his LLC, “I’m Kind of a Big Deal,” (no doubt borrowed from Ron Burgandy), Neil Patel launched his own SEO tool, QuickSprout, a website analyzer which aims to tell you where you’re struggling with your SEO efforts. We thought we’d put our website to the test with Neil Patel’s QuickSprout Analyzer, just for fun.
A Closer Look at Neil Patel’s QuickSprout Analyzer
First, the good stuff. According to Quick Sprout, Digital Firefly Marketing’s website gets an A! We had a few warnings for our heading tags being a bit too short, but no errors. The tool had some positive recommendations. The report provided some keywords that were found on our website and let us know where we were missing out on using them. It also provided some pretty useful suggestions for speeding up our website. Not bad for a free tool.
Here’s where Quick Sprout falls a little short. The results of the, “Social Media Impact” section of the report were a bit concerning. According to Quick Sprout, we’ve only been tweeted once and had 250 shares on Google+. That’s it. No Facebook likes or shares. No comments. Not even any re-pins on Pinterest. That seems a bit low. I checked some of our social media analytics and we actually have 3,330 total Facebook likes and have been tweeted 14 times in the last week. So this part of the report seems a little flawed.
In order to verify our score, we decided it would be a good idea to run another website through the report and see how we stacked up. What website did we choose? Why neilpatel.com, of course.
According to his own tool, Neil Patel scored just a B minus! (Oops!)
Apparently, Neil has links from only 202 domains (considered low by the tool) and only 15 pages indexed by Google. We’re not sure how legitimate these numbers are, though it shows that no matter how experienced you are, there’s always room for improvement.
Final Thoughts on Neil Patel’s Quick Sprout Analyzer
So what did we think of Quick Sprout? All-in-all, we actually prefer it over Hubspot’s Marketing Grader. But, until they work on some of the bugs in the social media and back link aspects of the report, we can’t give this tool our full recommendation. We look forward to testing future iterations of this tool.
