Facebook Marketing Works Because Your Digital Self Is Always There
Earlier this month we wrote a blog about the Big three marketing tactics used in digital marketing: SEO, Email and Social Media. Yesterday Frank Bruni wrote a great Op-Ed in the New York Times on how accessible people can be yet how they are strangely inaccessible because we all have our preferred methods of being contacted. Some people like email, others text, and still others a simple but seemingly antiquated phone call.
But what about Facebook?
Facebook and other social media are yet another wave of accessibility. However, unlike Frank’s point about people having 2 BlackBerrys, home and work numbers, and several email addresses that may not be current, you only have one Facebook profile. This not only makes you accessible to other people but also to brands.
This is one of the reason businesses are beginning to salivate over Facebook marketing. Additionally, why big money is starting to pile in. You and what you like are extremely accessible. Businesses can avoid spray and pray tactics like direct mail that they hope reach the right person. Email also is a method that while still extremely effective may be reaching its peak. After all, email addresses get stale, but your Facebook profile is your digital self. It’s always accessible and always available.
