How To: Instagram for Business
In our last post we shared best practices for using Instagram for business. We’ve got examples of each of these practices being used to help you assess your own page and have a clear, visual guide for how to up your Instagram game.
Examples of Instagram for Business Best Practices
Use the Right Account
Your Instagram page should be set up as a business account to maximize your use. The example on the left is a business page, the right is a personal account.
Jersey Wine & Spirits uses an Instagram for business account, according to our best practices. This allows them to add information like their type of business, hours, facebook, suggested hashtag, website, location and one click access to calling, emailing or getting driving, walking or mass transit directions.
Snobbeery is a beer photographer. Because Forrest is a hobbyist this is a personal page. Notice the elements missing? Each example is perfect for the type of account. If you’re looking for what to drink in the NYC area we can’t recommend either of these accounts enough!
Use Emojis (Properly)
Emojis are a quick, cute way to communicate ideas. Your emojis should have to do with your brand image and match the message. And please, don’t go overboard. On the left is an example of good emoji use. The one on the right needs a little help.
The page on the left is cute and quick. Coffee plus jet fuel equals a big smile. We still haven’t figured out what Chevy is getting at.
Tag Influencers
Interactions are key. Be sure to tag brands, products and influencers both in your Instagram pictures and in the comments. Here’s what we mean:
Play With Your Words
Never be afraid to break out a clever pun, play on words or humor when using Instagram for business. Two of our favorite examples are Ruffles and a daring joke from Charmin (which was wildly successful).
We hope this list of Instagram best practices in action inspires you to change up your social media game and test out new types of posts. Be sure to share your Instagram practices in the comments. Who knows, maybe we’ll feature you in a later post. And don’t forget, Digital Firefly Marketing provides free social media audits.
