Social Media Trends: Room for Growth
If social media were a child it wouldn’t be in high school. This means it’s still very much in it’s very impressionable tween years. What this means to companies is while this child called “social media” has developed its own language in the form of retweets, Facebook Likes, etc. there is still a great deal of growth ahead of it. Yesterday, getSatisfaction had a great blog on some of the stats around companies involved in social media or as they call it social business. There’s still room for growth!
Some of the stats really start to show why social media is still in it’s tween years. Few things to consider:
- Execs are now all about social. 57% of them know they need to do it or will fall behind
- Few companies are committed to social media for example only 4% of retail! This is hard to believe until you consider how many mom and pop shops there are out there.
- Analytics and website integration are really important to people. This makes a lot of sense because as people start to increase their marketing dollars beyond just test cases they want to be able to measure the results and any conversion they get must be integrated into their existing systems.
What this means at the end of the day is that it’s not too late to get involved in social media marketing. In fact, this is just the beginning.
