Brazil Clothing Store using Facebook Likes on Hangers
A partner of ours sent over a great story about a clothing store in Brazil using Facebook likes in an out of the box kind of way. It turns out they are using hangers connected to the Internet to show the number of “likes” a piece of clothing has, so presumably you can make a decision on clothing including how many people actually have “liked” that product in the past.
How it works
Users on the website are able to see items in the store connected to the hangers. Also, users can like the clothing on Facebook. The information travels to the hanger and is displayed. This is so people can see whether a high number of people have liked it. The application is certainly interesting and shows an innovative way to use Facebook in retail. What is does start to show, is how shopping may become social in the future.
While Internet connected hangers may be a little too expensive for some stores; it’s certainly not too far fetched to consider using virtual reality apps; which can connect to Facebook to accomplish the same thing but even get more granular on your own social circles. This could then be a truly social app and it may just be connected to those Google glasses we keep hearing so much about. Yet another reason we are all becoming cyborgs.
